[The comment stuns Dust as few other things ever have, in life or death. Family? Him?]

I've... never had a family. And I mean that literally. One of my souls did, but otherwise... I don't really know what one is, and what one is like. But I'm -- I don't know what to say. But in a good way.

[ It was weird, wasn't it? They had known each other for how long? Barely a year? Just about? But still, this was how he felt and it wasn't often he could find a way to express himself about it.. ]

Technically I don't know either but I still think so, so, you don't mind it?

No. No, I don't mind. [He closes his hand around the charms, like he's suddenly afraid of losing them.]

[ D2 smiles past his more-than-regularly flushed cheeks and embarrassment. ]

[Time to break up this serious moment with a little humor, so maybe he can get his hands on the whole thing again.]

[ ..That, is a bit funny. D2 lets out a chuckle, and a bit of the unusual amount of blush subsides to more normal levels for him. ]

It'll just end up in a long circle that way, Dust.

[Chuckling, Dust releases some of the pressure in his fingers. His pockets are safe enough, until he can give them a proper home somewhere, a place of honor.]

It's funny. I remember basically all of my life now, and yet in all the time I was alive, I never had people like I do here.

It's sad not having anyone really close, but you can make up for that here, then, which is a good thing.

I had close friends. Just not like this. I was never... meant to have anything more, like a family.

There's nothing like something being meant or not. Life takes you different places, because of your and other peoples decisions, and you can't really control everything but that doesn't mean that it's meant to be. You're here, so it means it's not over yet.

[ Besides, as Hakkai said once long ago, it might not be a permanent death, either. ]

Considering I was created for a purpose, it kind of was meant... but I'm growing past that, here. Despite how troubling it is. [Though he IS dead. So that kind of skews the point...]

Last time I listened to advice on that score it was a huge mistake.

I lost a friend, trying to have something more. I should have listened to my instinct and done nothing. [No matter what the consequences of that would be.]

[ D2 doesn't like this at all. He purses his lips in a scowl as he watches Dust. ]

I still think it's bull. But I doubt you'll listen to me, if you've already made up your mind.

Why?

[He is listening, though he can't imagine what D2 or anyone will tell him that somehow eases the sting of losing his best friend here.]
